Shine the Light on NYC Government Spending!

Here's another testament to the snow-balling nature of the transparency in government spending effort, which has already taken hold in 11 states via legislation and several others via executive action, and is now gaining steam at the local level.

Eric Singer has a great piece in today's New York Sun calling for spending transparency for New York City.

As he points out, even the City Council has problems accounting for cash allocations made by the city. Scary thought when you consider that NYC is spending roughly $60 billion in fiscal year 2008, isn't it?

A dose of transparency would be just what the doctor ordered - hopefully Mayor Bloomberg picks up the paper today!
